Research & Innovation, and Youth & Women Economic Empowerment
At RHD, we believe that research and innovation are powerful engines of change. Our program is dedicated to generating evidence-based insights that inform better policies, guide community-driven solutions, and inspire scalable innovations. Through participatory action research, we amplify the voices of marginalized groups and uncover the root causes of poverty, inequality, and unemployment. By transforming data into actionable knowledge, we ensure that interventions are not only responsive and inclusive, but also sustainable and impactful.
- Building on this foundation of research, RHD champions youth and women economic empowerment as a driver of long-term transformation. In rural and marginalized regions of Kenya, young people and women face multiple barriers—limited access to capital, training, and markets—that perpetuate cycles of poverty. Our program provides entrepreneurship skills, vocational training, digital literacy, and financial inclusion initiatives that help women and youth unlock their potential, create jobs, and lift entire households out of poverty. Donor support in this area directly fuels self-reliance, dignity, and resilience for the most vulnerable.
- Innovation is woven into every part of our approach. We incubate community-led solutions that tackle real-world challenges—from climate-smart agriculture and clean energy enterprises to digital platforms connecting smallholder farmers with urban markets.
