Education Program

RHD has been in the front line in supporting the (EFA goal and the Sustainable Development Goal on Education – SDG 4, alongside SDG 1, 2 & 3). We value children. They are close to our hearts. Therefore, we fight for their rights and try to deliver immediate and lasting improvements to them wherever they are. Our education initiatives aim to equip and empower children, youth and women with tools to learn and achieve their goals in life. By this, we envision a world where children faced by extreme poverty and marginalization are able to take control of their future and actively shape it. With thousands of children who have no access to quality primary and secondary education, ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promotion of life long opportunities for all still remain a big challenge in Kenya. Our attention is focused on addressing constraints forcing children to remain out of school or be at-risk of dropping out of school in both primary and secondary levels. To help achieve the government of Kenya vision 2030, RHD will remain forward the agenda of free primary and secondary education for all children, low fee rates in private schools and elimination of other school related costs both in public primary and secondary schools; establishment of learning facilities/schools in rural and poor marginalized communities; establishing a cash transfer program; social promotion; better remuneration to teachers; stakeholders/ community and parents participation and involvement; offering a complementary education; enhancing private-public partnership; safety and security of children in school facility; improving education quality and relevancy among others.
